James Rodgers Looking to Carry Momentum into 2015 Season

When the final checker flag waved ending the 2014 Hurricane Midget season it was the #77 of James Rodgers celebrating the feature win at Autumn Colours. The win secured James to a third place finish in the championship standings, and giving the team the boost it needed heading in to 2015. James and his team would love nothing more than to become the first ever OSCAAR Midget Series Champion.
James is no stranger to racing as his career began in 2003 in the 4 cylinder division as Sunset Speedway before moving up to the Thunder car division. James first arrived on the midget series in 2012 and has been a force to deal with ever since. The familiar “chrome” #77 can always be found battling for the win each week.
When it became time for a change James looked around at various divisions and decided on the midget class based on the high speed of the cars and the cost to run a competitive team. Fans might not know but the midgets turn some of the fastest lap times of any cars in Ontario.
As with any series or class, each and every year teams continue to improve of their cars. Since first joining the series, where there were maybe 5 cars that can win on any given night there are now 15-20 that you have to beat. James loves the competition and with teams stepping up their programs each year the series is going to continue to get stronger.
Like any driver James has a wish list and it is pretty simple” I like to see different teams win all the time, seeing the same driver each week win is not good for the series” But James also knows that winning takes hard work and determination and that are two attributes that he brings to the track each week.
When the talks began of the midgets becoming OSCAAR sanctioned James was very excited. Fans know all about OSCAAR and the great racing they bring to the track each week with the Super Lates and the Mods. So adding the midgets to the mix, will bring fans an exciting night of racing with three distinct classes that you cannot see anywhere else but at an OSCAAR event.
James is already looking towards his future with OSCAAR and says a OSCAAR Mod is definitely in his future in the next few years. But for 2015 his focus is the OSCAAR Midget Championship.
OSCAAR would like to with James and his whole #77 team the best of luck for the 2015 season.
