Father and Son Ready to Battle for Midget Rookie of the Year Title

_MG_1109For the first time in OSCAAR history and very possible racing history in Ontario, a father and son will be competing against each week as part of the OSCAAR Midget Series. Todd Branscombe (43 years old) and his son Wesley (13 years old) are busy in the shop preparing their new cars for the 2015 season. Todd will pilot the #64 and Wesley will be in the #65 midgets which they purchased from Trevor Wadham at the end of the 2014 season.

Both drivers will be starting their racing career together on opening day as neither have any on track experience, but have been around racing and huge fans of OSCAAR for many years. Todd at one time thought his racing path might take him to dirt racing as he owned a dirt late model. Due to his work schedule and time restraints it just never worked out, Todd is not afraid to admit “ I might have been a little out of my element with that car”

When Wesley showed interest in getting behind the wheel, it was important to Todd that they find a series where they could race together and the Midgets fit that plan perfectly. During the 2014 season Todd spoke to several drivers and when he discovered the affordability and the speed of these cars it was an easy decision to make.

When the question was proposed to Todd, if he would race his son different than any other competitor on the track his response was part dad and part racer. Every dad wants to see their son do well and wants to see him win his first race, however I want to win just as bad, so when on the track the #65 car is just another car I have to pass. What Todd, Wesley and their entire family are looking forward to his having fun and making some lifelong racing memories at the track each week.

As for their future plans, someday way down the road, Todd would like to get Wesley into a late model but for now their main focus is the 2015 OSCAAR Midget season. The season will be an exciting one for this family and fans as everyone will wonder at the end of the season just who will have the bragging rights at Christmas Dinner.

OSCAAR would like to welcome the Branscombe family to the series and wish them the best of luck in the 2015 season.

OSCAAR Racing is presented to race fans throughout Ontario with the help of several dedicated sponsors, including: Gallinger Ford, Knightworks Design, Klotz Synthetics Canada, Hoosier Tire Canada, Finishline Fabricating, JBM Leasing Ltd., Jenco Equipment, North Toronto Auction, Race2way.ca, Reinhart Trailers, South Shore Services
