HOOSIER Modifieds:Modified Top 3 OSCAAR @ Full Throttle 2015

The Hoosier Mod drivers have had this date circled on their calendars as each of them want to take home that coveted trophy. The evening started off with time trials, to see which Hoosier Mod driver could have bragging rights of being the fastest. Home town favorite, many time Full Throttle Champion and Woolner Memorial Champion #8 Gary McLean would lay down the fastest lap of the night with a 12.494 second lap. Rookie David Baylch would be second with a 12.738 second lap and #39 Shane Stickel with a 12.772 second lap. The four heat races would set the starting field for the 50 lap main event. Gary McLean, David Baylch, Dan Price and Brian McLean would all pick up checker flag in the qualifying. During introductions fans would vote #14 Davey Terry as the best appearing modified, and then the command to start engines was given. Rookie AJ Emms and Brian McLean would lead the field to green. A couple of quick cautions would keep the field bunched up until a green flag run would see the Mod drivers get down to some great racing. The #99 of AJ Emms would pace the field for the first 20 laps before giving it up to the #39 of Shane Stickel who would hold the top spot for the final 30 laps. Shane would have to hold off the challenges of the #36 of Gary Elliott, #8 Gary McLean who went to the back of the field twice to record the win. This would be Shane’s first feature win in the series and there no better time to do it. In victory lane Shane was quick to point out “We will be back for sure in September”. Rounding out the top 5 would be the #77 of Chad Strawn who was making his first ever start at Full Throttle and the #99 of AJ Emms. Midas of Orangeville Midgets: Midgets Feature 1st Place Jessica James OSCAAR @ Full Throttle 2015

The Midas of Orangeville Midgets continue to impress the race fans each and every week. Coming into this event we had three different feature winners in 2015, and at the end of the night Jessica James was able to add her name to the list. Jessica also has the distinct title of the first female competitor to win an OSCAAR feature in 25 years of competition. The #2 of James showed her fellow competitors that she was the car to beat by picking up her two heat race wins. Also picking up heat wins were the #5 Jody Bound, #62 of Rob McCall, #97 Robin McLean and the #18 of Paul Draganoc. With the 24 car staring field set for the 30 lap main event it didn’t take long for the drivers to be going at it three wide throughout the field. The car on the move was the #2 of James who quickly moved from her ninth starting spot to the lead on 10 and would hold on for the final 20 laps to take her first feature win of 2015. #55 of Cory Whittam held the lead for the first seven laps of the feature and was all smiles after the event by recording his best ever feature finish of second place. Last weeks’ feature winner #97 Robin McLean would round out the podium with a third place finish. Perhaps the fastest most consistent team not to win a feature in 2015 is Paul Draganoc who finished the night in fourth place and moved into a tie for the points championship. Rounding out the top five was the #48 of Brian Woodland, who again has been knocking on the door for his first feature win of 2015. The Midas Midgets also have the tightest points battle in Ontario racing with the top five separated by a mere 5 points as the series takes a week off before heading to Sauble Beach in two weeks. The Midgets teams continue to impress each and every week and are a quickly becoming a fan favorite at each event.
