When it came to the 2016 season, it’s no secret that Rob McCall stood out all year. After all, the bright pink that ordered his ride seemed to catch the eyes of fans everywhere.

Though to go along with the eye-catching wrap, McCall also proved that he could be eye-catching with his performance on the track as well, posting six top-fives en route to finishing sixth in the standings.

Unfortunately, the year didn’t start out that strongly for McCall as he struggled to perfect the handling of his ride, while running into some mechanical races. In the first five races of the season, he only posted one top-10 – finishing 10th at Sunset Speedway in June. Beyond that, it seemed that nothing would come together.

Though as the series dove deeper into the summer, McCall began to find his groove and ability to rip off a string of top-five performances. He’d kick it off by driving the No. 62 Creechers Design – Orillia, TSS Top Shops – Barrie, RPM Race Engines – Innisfil, Tirecraft – Aurora, MDB Race Cars – New Hamburg, HB Cycle – Lindsay, and Byers Motorsports – Orillia Midget to a third place finish at Peterborough Speedway on July 18. He would then follow it up by finishing fourth at Sauble Speedway, before returning to Peterborough to finish fifth.

Unfortunately, McCall wasn’t able to carry the momentum all the way to the end of the season, as he’d finish 23rd at Flamboro Speedway at the end of August. He wouldn’t let the run get him down, though, finishing off the year with there top-five finishes. More importantly, Sunset on September 27 and Peterborough on Oct 10 resulted in a podium finish, completing both races in the third spot

Given how strong McCall finished the season, expectations have the Brechin, Ontario native starting off the 2016 campaign on a strong note and contending for a series championship.
