5th in Living Lighting OSCAAR Pro Sprint Points – Kevin Taylor

Kevin Taylor

Battling up front all year long, Kevin Taylor put together a solid campaign en route to placing fifth in the year-end Living Lighting, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Pro Sprint standings.

Entering the season, Taylor was confident about his chances based on a combination of experience, and a newer car underneath him.

“I’m really looking forward to this year,” he said entering the season. “With last year being my first year in racing, everything that was going on around me seemed to happen in warp speed. I learned a lot last year so I need to take those learning experiences to make us a more prepared and competitive team for this year.”

The first feature of the season at Sunset speedway did not start off smoothly, with Taylor going for a spin in the early stages. He was able to rebound, crossing the finish line with a ninth. The momentum followed him to Grand Bend Speedway, as he was able to place ninth in the feature once again.

The series return to Sunset Speedway in July showed the progress that Taylor has made behind the wheel as a driver with a solid performance. He would lead the early stages of the feature, and ultimately ran inside the top-five all race long en route to finishing fourth. He repeated the same feat in the second feature, until being involved in a mid-race incident. He was able to rebound, though, placing sixth.

The series’ first trip of the season to Flamboro Speedway saw the top-10’s continue with Taylor scoring a seventh-place finish. He then backed it up with a ninth at Peterborough Speedway a week later. The return trip to Flamboro would not go as smoothly, with Taylor going for a spin on the opening lap; he’d ultimately finish 10th in the feature.

The series’ lone trip to Sauble Speedway saw the success continue, with Taylor finishing sixth in the feature. He then backed it up with another sixth at Grand Bend Speedway.

The playoffs started off well for Taylor, as he ran inside the top-five through both features, leading a couple laps in the first event, en route to a pair of fourths at Sunset Speedway. He showed speed at Frostoberfest at Flamboro Speedway, but would see his feature end early following mechanical issues in the early stages.

He then finished off the season on a solid note, finishing eighth at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic.

In just his second season behind the wheel, Kevin Taylor has proven to be someone to watch in the years to come. Beyond that, he has also been a great ambassador for the series in helping gain marketing support.
