Qwick Wick 30 for 30 at Flamboro Speedway’s Frostoberfest Preview

MILLGROVE, Ontario — For the past 30 years, there has only been one company everyone has turned to when it comes to getting their fire going – Qwick Wick Fire Starter.

Our Qwick Wick OSCAAR Hot Rod competitors are among those, as the product has become the critical piece in kick starting the campground party each weekend. It’s why the group is banding together, ready to honor the company’s 30th anniversary in style as part of Flamboro Speedway’s Frostoberfest on Saturday, October 1.

It will mark the 10th time the Hot Rods have raced at Flamboro Speedway, following their inaugural appearance in 2017. Thus far, we’ve seen seven different winners, with Nick Clarke and Tyler Hawn the only of those able to repeat the feat twice. The other four victors are Adam Misener, Rodney Rutherford, Steve Book, Cole Weber, and Dalen Martin.

Several names on this list will hope to repeat their feat this weekend.

Nick Clarke hopes to keep the pretty in the blue mustang as he enters this weekend looking for a rebound following a mid-race incident at Delaware Speedway. Outside of that, he has scored a top-10 in six of his last eight tour appearances, including four podium appearances. He has been fast at Flamboro Speedway, as evident by a top-five in his five most recent starts including a runner-up.

Tyler Hawn proved he has not lost his touch during Sunset Speedway’s Fall Velocity qualifying despite being away from the tour for almost a year, as evident by a pair of strong runs.

Steve Book heads into this weekend ready for a rebound, following an 11th-place finish at Delaware Speedway. Don’t allow this to see you take your eyes off of the No. 47, as he only has 19 finishes worse than sixth in his last 24 series starts, including four podiums in 2022. In six appearances at Flamboro Speedway, he has only one finish worse than fourth, highlighted by a victory in October 2019.

Additionally, there are a lot of others who are looking to become the eighth different winner at Flamboro and hoist the checkered flag above their head after the 30 laps are in the books.

Paul Senior hopes to have a good outing as he enters on a string of positive finishes, with eight straight top-10 finishes, including a trio of top-five’s. He has shown speed at Flamboro Speedway, as evident by a pair of podiums and a fourth in his last four appearances.

Gary Hannah hopes to turn things around after failing to score a top-15 finish in the past three series events. He has not had the best of luck at Flamboro, with a 19th-place finish in his lone appearance.

Ryan Cowan looks to keep the improvement rolling, following a season-best seventh-place finish in two of the past four races. he also has not had the best of luck at Flamboro, with just one top-15 finish.

Sean Walker hopes to continue getting stronger this season, following a pair of top-15’s including a season-best 11th at Peterborough Speedway. He has been consistent at Flamboro with a best finish of 12th in his last two appearances.

Dave Evison Sr. has been splitting his time between the series and battling at Delaware Speedway, but will be in attendance this weekend following a career-best fifth-place finish at the half-mile last week. Notably, he scored a 14th-place finish last season at Flamboro Speedway.

Connor Ellis hopes to keep the momentum rolling after posting a top-15 in seven of his last eight tour appearances, highlighted by his first career top-five with fifth at Brighton Speedway. Notably, he placed 12th in his first Flamboro appearance.

Tom Walters rolls into Flamboro Speedway with momentum on his side following a trio of runner-up finishes, with one of those at the Millgrove track in August.
