Picking up a heat victory along the way, Gary Hannah battled mechanical gremlins and bad luck en route to an eighth-place finish in the Qwick Wick OSCAAR Hot Rod standings.
A poor qualifying effort at Spring Velocity saw Hannah start deep in the field. However, he battled throughout the 30 lap feature powered by EPIC Racewear to place 15th at the checkered flag.
He carried the momentum to Sauble Speedway the next month, scoring his first career JRS Auctions Heat victory. He started mid-pack for the feature, finishing 11th. He kept the string of top-15 results rolling back to Sunset Speedway a week later for a 14th.
The month of July started off well with a 13th in the first Delaware Speedway feature, though was one of many involved in the second 25-lap affair, resulting in a 19th-place finish. He was able to rebound at Sunset later that month for a 12th.
The solid battling each week carried him to his home track, Peterborough Speedway, with him scoring a ninth. Unfortunately, he was unable to carry the momentum forward, failing to start the features at Brighton Speedway and Flamboro Speedway due to mechanical difficulties.
He kicked off the stretch to finish 2022 with a 17th at Delaware Speedway, with a strong qualifying effort helping towards a 12th at Flamboro Speedway. A return home to Peterborough Speedway saw him with one of his best starts of the year due to great finishes in both of his heats. He battled inside the top-10 all feature long, scoring a season-best seventh.
Despite everything not going as warranted throughout 2022, Gary Hannah was able to put together some solid performances to place eighth in the standings.
