7th in OSCAAR Hot Rod Points – Connor Ellis

Continuing to get stronger behind the wheel on a weekly basis, Connor Ellis was able to complete his rookie Qwick Wick OSCAAR Hot Rod campaign ranked seventh in the standings.

He started off the year on a solid note by placing 12th in the season opener as part of Sunset Speedway’s Spring Velocity, followed an 18th a month later at Sauble Speedway. He then returned to Sunset to finish 19th in the feature fueled by EPIC Racewear.

The month of July began at Delaware Speedway with a 13th in the Friday evening edition, before rebounding from being one of several on the early race incident for a ninth on Saturday. He also got caught up in a wreck at Sunset a couple weeks later, but fought back for an 11th.

Beginning August at Peterborough Speedway allowed Ellis to show speed, as he battled inside the top-10 before running into mechanical issues with nine laps to go. He was credited with a 13th-place finish. His season-best performance came a week later in the series’ lone trip to the dirt, in Brighton Speedway. He learned throughout the event en route to a fifth in the caution-free feature. He then wrapped up the month with a 12th at Flamboro Speedway.

The year-end stretch began at Delaware for Ellis with a 16th, followed by a 13th at Flamboro. The final weekend at Peterborough’s Autumn Colours Classic began with a third in his second JRS Auctions qualifying heat, before battling inside the top-10 all race long for an eighth.

Despite some rough moments, Connor Ellis was able to have some highlights along the way en route to becoming the series’ youngest Point S Action Tire Rookie of the Year Award winner.
