9TH in Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rod Points – Jerry Broom

Jerry Broom

Running a limited schedule in 2019, Jerry Broom proved that he could run with the best in the Knightworks Design, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd OSCAAR Hot Rods en route to completing the year ranked ninth in the standings.

Making his first start of the season at Jukasa Motor Speedway, Broom was quick from the drop of the green flag. He would drive the No. 93 Camaro to the lead on Lap 14, pacing the field the second half of the event en route to scoring his first career series victory.

He returned to Canada’s Crown Jewel in September, appearing to be fast once again with a victory in his qualifying heat. He ran up front in the feature, and was battling side-by-side for the lead when he and Paul Senior came together, resulting in both crashing along with others. Broom would only be able to come back to finish eighth.

He would make the necessary repairs, joining the Hot Rods for the Fall Velocity weekend at Sunset Speedway. After winning his second qualifying heat, Broom battled inside the top-five throughout the 30-lap feature en route to a runner-up finish.

The momentum followed him to Flamboro Speedway, where he scored another heat victory and led the first 12 laps after starting on pole. He would slip back on the restart as a result of Dalen Martin getting loose to his outside, but battled to the checkered flag for a third-place finish.

He was poised to have another strong run to finish the season at Peterborough Speedway, but ultimately got caught up in the first lap wreck resulting in a 20th-place finish.

One of the strong runners, Broom has already proved that he can battle for victories against the best of the series. Now if the No. 93 comes out on a weekly basis in 2020, he could easily be part of the championship conversation.

On behalf of OSCAAR, congratulations to Jerry Broom on your success this season. We look forward to seeing you in 2020.
