Steve Book Pads Points Lead with Delaware Speedway Victory

LONDON, Ontario — Taking the lead at the midway point of the feature, Steve Book did not look back en route to scoring the Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rod feature presented by Gen7 Fuel Oneidea in memory of Jared Doxtator..

Jesse Kennedy won the first heat followed by Steve Book, Dalen Martin, Kyle Fetterly, Bill Breklemans, Jerry Broom, Nick Clarke, and Rob Bromley. Jeremy McLean would not take the green flag.

Cole Weber was victorious in the second qualifier ahead of Tyler Hawn, Tom Walters, Amanda Balson, Trevor Thompson, Robb Starr, Dave Evison Sr., Gary Hannah, and Jeremy Taggert.

Come feature time, Tom Walters started pole in front of Amanda Balson, Tyler Hawn, Steve Book, Dalen Martin, Kyle Fetterly, Cole Weber, Jesse Kennedy, Bill Breklemans, Trevor Thompson, Jerry Broom, Robb Starr, Rob Bromley, Nick Clarke, Jeremy Taggert, Jeremy McLean, and Gary Hannah.

Tom Walters grabbed the early advantage ahead of Balson, with Book moving up into third in front of Martin, Weber, Kennedy, Hawn, Breklemans, Broom, Bromley, Clarke, Fetterly, Thompson, Starr, and Evison Sr.

Book continued to move forward, passing Balson for second on Lap 7, with Clarke breaking into the top-10 on Lap 10 in front of Fetterly, Thompson, and Bromley. Meanwhile, McLean returned to the pits with issue on the same lap, ending his feature early.

Martin would challenge Balson for third on Lap 12, but the focus was on the battle for the top spot as Book got alongside Walters. It did not last long, as Book put the Studebaker out front a lap later. Kennedy now ran third in front of Martin, Weber, Hawn, Breklemans, Balson, Broom, Clarke, Thompson, and Fetterly.

Kennedy also continued to move forward, moving into second on Lap 16, with Balson alongside Breklemans for sixth two laps later. The battle would last for a few laps, but she’d take over the spot with 21 laps on the board.

Kennedy’s climb to the front would be completed with four laps to go, as he took the top spot from Book. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be, with the No. 10 slowing on the final lap.

This would allow Steve Book to get by, picking up the checkered flag in front of Tom Walters, Dalen Martin, Tyler Hawn, and Cole Weber.

Steve Book now holds an 18-point advantage of Tyler Hawn with two races remaining on the schedule.
